Discover Taormina - Messina

Taormina has always been one of the most famous and popular tourist resorts in eastern Sicily, in southern Italy. Located in the province of Messina, the beautiful Taormina is not very far from Catania, and is therefore easily accessible thanks to the Vincenzo Bellini international airport.
Taormina has many elements of tourist attraction: its location is certainly one of these, as the town is situated on a promontory overlooking the Ionian coast, from which it is possible to admire magnificent views of both the marvelous Sicilian sea and beaches, and the majestic Mount Etna.
Probably it is a scenery you can enjoy from the streets and in the historic centre of Taormina, in addition to the flavors and scents that characterize this town, which led Goethe to call it a little piece of heaven on earth, but Taormina has many other tourist attractions, not only naturalist.
In particular, here there are important archaeological artifacts that testify to its past of ancient greek settlement. Among these of great importance is the Ancient Theatre of Taormina, dating from the third century BC, internationally renowned not only for its historical importance, but also for the panoramic view that it offers, and especially for all kinds of events (musical, theatre, etc ...) that take place here every year during the summer, within the Taormina Arte program.
Taormina, with its central location, is close to other important tourist destinations in eastern Sicily such as Giardini Naxos and Letojanni, that are really appreciated as seaside resorts, and the small but lovely Castelmola.
