The city is the capital of the province of Modena in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy. It's surrounded by two rivers, the Secchia and the Panaro. The cusine in this area is famous for its pork sausages which are prepared like Prosciutto di Modena which binds well with the typical fried dumplings; Cheese production is the production of Parmigiano-Reggiano and crescentina.Modena boasts three World Heritage sites: Ghirlandina (civic tower), the Duomo and the Piazza Grande. Apart from these, there is considerable cultural interest in the church of St. Augustine, the church of St. Vincent, St. Peter, St. Bartholomew, St. George and many other churches still, all masterpieces dating from around the fifteenth century. Among the buildings that is worth mentioning is the Ducal Palace, the Municipal Theatre Luciano Pavarotti, Palazzo Santa Margherita, the Complex of St. Augustine. There are also many museums that tell the story of the city of Etruscan, Gallic and then when it was a Roman colony. Even the museum of volleyball and the Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari should be on you list to see.
The Modena railway station is on the Milan-Bologna line, and is the terminus of the line for Mantua and Verona and Sassuolo line ERF. In addition to the Modena motorway A22 which is the only link from Italy to Central Europe.
