Discover Courmayeur - Aosta

Courmayeur is the second largest municipality in the Valle d'Aosta, and has about 2,800 inhabitants. It 's located at the foot of the famous Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe with more than 4,800 meters in height, though not visible from the center of the town. Courmayeur, is the last Italian town that before crossing into France through the Mont Blanc (the other extreme is France's Chamonix), is located in a large basin at the foot of the mountain range, at 1224 meters altitude. The town is crossed by the Dora Baltea (affluent of the Po river), has a long tradition as a tourist destination: first all for wellness activities related to spas, from 19th century on-wards and now represents one of the preferred destinations for lovers of mountain climbing and mountain hiking in Italy.

Winter sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the two areas of Checrouit and Val Veny, which offer over 100 kilometers of slopes. In addition to activities related to mountaineering and skiing, Courmayeur also offers other things to see like the House of Guides, the Museum Duke of Abruzzi, where are preserved old documents, relics and materials relating to the history of mountaineering.
