I know the grosvenor pulford hotel and its reputation in the local area and was really looking forward to a great stay. unfortunately the room we were allocated and the mattress, pillows and beddng was not fit for purpose. the bed was collapsed in the middle and the pillows were not able to sleep on and used my rolled up jeans and a sweater at it was more comfortable - this prevented any good sleep at all and was the most uncomfortable night i have exerienced, consantly waking up and not able to get comfrtable. wasn't asked how my stay was upon check out and was so exhausted i couldnt be bothered at the time to raise the point of the room or did reception know the room has problems so don't ask the question? took breakfast at 07:30 and we were the first in the restaurant. waited for a few minutes to be seated and no staff to seat us. took a seat anyway and helped ourselves to breakfast until we saw staff come out of the back who then saw to us for tea, coffee etc. the cutlery on the table was sticky and not polished / cleaned - no one around to ask to change for us and had to swap with another table. all in all the experience of the room and breakfast was very underwhelming and certainly not value for money paid given the room was not fit for purpose. the basic of any hotel is the accommodation and breakfast offering and service - these were totally lacking on all counts. not happy at all and have sent a complaint to customer services at hotel click and looking forward to a response. the hotel location was good and a beautiful building but totally let down by sandards of service and the standard of the rooms.
