GRAN HOTEL BOLIVAR This hotel, without doubt, is one of the grand hotels of Lima. However, it was left for a long time without a great renewal, and therefore, now needs to an important restoration to bring it back to the standards that had once. It has excellent examples of antique furniture, such as the lift to... More Details Gran Hotel Bolivar

The old part of lima

We loved staying here. it is within walking distance of the historical sites in lima and there was really good shopping nearby as well. also lived up to their reputation for making the best pisco sours!

Charming old hotel

Gran hotel bolivar is a place that wants to maintain the "grandeur" that it had when it opened, but only still has in the common spaces, like the reception area. as far as the rooms are concerned, little or no effort has been done to adapt them to modern times. it is very well situated, but all services are offered with ustourists in mind (prices in us $ and systematically higher than similar services in lima), which i'm not very pleased with : we are neither american, nor "helpless" (as far as language is concerned in perú) and therefore i would like to be treated and to treat others in the local system, i.e. in nuevos soles and in spanish!

Wonderful stay!

My partner and i stayed here in early december 2009 after staying in miraflores last year. i definitely would recommend this place if you want to see the real lima (in miraflores you could be in miami or any other spanish influenced upscale city neighbourhood). at the bolivar we were right on plaza san martin, within (safe) walking distance to everything we wanted to see. an added treat was seeing the christmas concert held from the windows of the hsbc building overlooking the square. some might not like the aged condition of the hotel, but it was clean and secure, had hot water and the beds were comfortable. we asked for a backside room (no view) as we didn't want street noise. we enjoyed the bedside table with built-in radio (which actually worked!) we would definitely stay here again should we be back to lima!

Hotel bolivar
