A three-day art immersion
My husband and i are artists who live about 60 miles west of washington, dc. once or twice a year we find a good hotel
near the big art museums and go on an art-binge, visiting as
many exhibitions as we can in three days. this january we
stayed at the "george," a new boutique hotel near union station,
and located at 15 e street.
the hotel is small and chic with a very accommodating staff,
friendly and helpful. the room itself was a double king deluxe
with a continental breakfast...very nicely decorated, everything
brand new. a beautiful bathroom had a single sink but the most luxurious shower. keurig coffee maker, a yoga mat, umbrella, and list of
possibly forgotten items available at no charge were all unusual.
linen, mattress, and tv were fine. no view from that room but the
george washington motif in the artwork was amusing. plenty of reading
material, telephone access, and silence at night. wine was served in
the lobby in the early evening, while a connecting door led to a nice
little restaurant where a meal might be had. the doorman was so
nice, taxi's at the front door, with all-day and night parking across the
street. metro was available a few blocks away, as were buses if you
could figure out how to use them to take you where you wanted to go.
we had a great experience and will choose the george again next time.
