Edinburgh visit

An ideal location for visiting the city centre and surrounding attractions. the frederickhouse is pleasant enough, staff at reception are friendly, polite and helpful. breakfast is served at ricks restaurant across the road from the hotel which i had reservations about but these were unfounded. ricks was a lovely eateries which served a wholesome breakfast. all in all, an enjoyable stay.

Perfect location!

Frederick street, where the hotel is situated, is just off princes street, and is surrounded by lovely shops, restaurants and bars - which sounds like it might be noisy, but it wasn't. our room was large and comfortable. going across the road to cafe rouge for breakfast was a bit odd, but the breakfast was great, and we also got 25% discount on evening meal at cafe rouge, which was worth having! would definitely use it again, especially at such a good hotelsclick.com price.

New town hotel

Comfortable hotel but the room i stayed in was subject to continuous noise from an air-conditioning system somewhere (probably not in the hotel). rather like spending the night in a cabin on board a ferry! staff helpful. everything else fine. good service at the restaurant across the road where breakfast is served.

Location,location,location

Forget all the other reviews. the location of this hotel is the most important. you can walk to all the main attractions, bars and restaurants.the fact it does not have its own bar or restaurant means it is a quiet haven from the city. friendly and helpfull staff, clean and correctly priced

Very enjoyable weekend break

I have stayed at this hotel several times before and love its central location. the staff are friendly and you get a small fridge in your room! it's competitively priced, although breakfast is served at the resturaunt across the road. at least you get to work off one of the calories you gain there! the rooms appear slightly dated, but are clean and tidy. the tv had the basic channels + a couple of sky ones (although 5 channels devoted to th sky demonstration channel seems a bit over the top!). showers seemed to have plenty of hot water at most times of the day. overall i would recommend the hotel
