Relaxing break in bath

We spent 2 very pleasant nights at the francis hotel. our room on the 3rd floor was a bit shabby, could do with a new coat of paint, but clean and the bathroom was bright and spotless. we ate at the hotel on the first evening and the service was excellent. my husband who has coeliac disease was even offered gluten free bread which has never happened before. overall the service was excellent and we would stay again.

Just right

This was our second stay this year. has a genteel feel - and staff who not only haven't all changed since our last visit but include some who actually remembered us from our last stay. hotel is perfectly located for shopping and sight-seeing in this lovely historical town - 5 minutes from the main sites but in a nice quiet square with greenery. excellent breakfast and alla carte evening meals.

Bath - nice city - francis - nice hotel

Just what you would expect from a hotel in the centre of a city like bath. the staff were extremely well trained in how to treat guests. the hotel itself had a touch of luxury about the decor, which fitted with the location of queens square and the architecture of the surrounding buildings.

Fabulous breakfasts and great location

Very central location. impressed by the excellent service by all staff. stayed 3 nights here with 3 other old university friends. our ensuite rooms were fine for the price (two twins) - clean and serviced well. i know bath well as i don't live far away and would definitely stay here again. we didn't dine in the hotel other than breakfast as we wanted to try some other places. but i've eaten lunch here before and it was excellent.

Not shabby chic - just shabby

A very poor hotel, shabby, threadbare carpets, dated bathrooms, shocking toiletries, broken temperature control, 1980s tv, no minibar. save your money and book one of the many wonderful b&b's in bath instead.

Oh to be in bath, now that april's here!

My wife and i treated ourselves to a three-night stay at the francis in queens square, bath, from 4 april 2009. it is a pleasant hotel in a central location. make sure you put on the air con though as nights are hot if you keep the windows closed and incredibly noisy if you open them. queens square is a race track! evening meal is good value and breakfasts are superb.

Central bath hotel

This hotel is situated in the middle of bath and excellent for all tourist attractions- most within easy walking distance.also excellent for buisness users. the downsides are that the hotel rooms at the front are quite noisy until late at night and from early morning so window needs to be shut. the other problem is parking- this is behind the hotel and is an extra cost-£10 at present for guests- this is not made clear in the hotel description- this car park would also be very full at peak season- alternative solutions are not advertiseds.

Overnight stay - for visit to theatre royal

We only spent one night at the hotel as we came to bath to see a production at the theatre royal. we were politely received and all aspects of our stay were very satisfactory. we enjoyed an excellent evening meal after the show and breakfast the following morning. when we return to bath we will certainly endeavour to stay at this hotel again.
