4/5 Read Review

If you've read the reviews, you know what you're in for

After reading the reviews, i was well prepared to come to this hotel with very little expectations. first of all, the hotel is not that bad. it's clean and the best looking building in the area. the breakfast buffet was generous, with much more than just "continental breakfast" items, such as eggs (fried, scrambled and hard boiled), bacon, ham and cheese. of course, the nicest thing this hotel has is the view of the acropolis and the city from the rooftop, and the pool is a nice welcome to the scorching summer heat of athens. of course, there are many problems with the hotel. the location is very central, but in the middle of a graffiti-covered dark streets. they're fine in the daylight, but at night you don't feel very safe walking around. the hotel only has 2 elevators that hold 4 people at a time. this can get frustrating during busy times (check out time, especially), as they're usually packed and you have to wait a while in the hot reception area for your elevator to finally arrive. the pool is nice, but small, and it can get crowded in the afternoon. also, there is a sign posting that the pool is open "until late", but in reality, it closes at dinner time (around 7 or 8pm), so if you're thinking of using the pool at night, don't count on it. the room was nice, and it had a balcony facing the street. it was clean, and it had an electric kettle and a fridge/mini bar. however, the fridge did not cool things down, and things inside were more room-temperature than cold; not a good place to cool down your beer. the bathroom had no towel hooks, just holes in the wall where they should be (?), but we called the front desk and they took care of it the following day. my biggest problem with this hotel is the wifi connection. there were groups of people gathered at the main lobby or by the elevators on each floor, trying to get the weak wifi signal offered by the hotel. of course, the signal for the pay wifi was strong anywhere in the hotel, but it was expensive. all in all, this hotel is nothing great, but for the price and the location, you're getting what you paid for.
