Medium cortezo pefect for city break

I stayed in room 102 on the second floor of the hotel medium cortezo for 4 nights in july 2008 on a city break with friends and family. we arrived in madrid by metro from the airport mid-afternoon and were able to check-in straight away. the nearest metro station to the hotel is only a five minutes walk away at ‘tirso de molina’. from the airport take metro line 8 to ‘nuevos ministerios’, which is the terminus station for this line. then take metro line 10 (direction ‘puerta del sur’) to ‘tribunal’. finally take line 1 (direction ‘valdecarros’) to ‘tirso de molina’. the hotel’s central location is very good, with the city and all the main tourist sites within easy walking distance of the hotel. for sites further a field, metro stations ‘tirso de molina’ and ‘sol’, which are within close proximity of the hotel, provide easy connection with all parts of the city. for sites beyond the city, such as the beautiful towns of toledo and segovia, atocha railway station (renfe) is a 10-15 minutes walk away. there are a good selection of bars and restaurants within a close vicinity of the hotel. the room was very clean and tidy and the bed linen and towels were changed daily. the television in the room only consisted of spanish channels, but there again i didn’t go to madrid to watch tv so this didn’t bother me. the windows were all double-glazed so street noise at night was minimal. one very small complaint with the room was the fact that the room safe was coin operated and therefore cost 1 euro every time you wanted to lock it. breakfast was served on the first floor of the hotel and there was an ample choice of continental breakfast items to eat such as pastries, meats, salads, bread, juice, cereals and fresh fruit, plus cooked items such as sausages, bacon and scrambled egg. there was also a good selection of drinks including coffee, fruit juices and a variety of flavoured teas. overall, a great value hotel, which is ideally located to explore the city. i would have no problems in staying at this hotel again if i visit madrid in the future.
