Chateau de fawlty towers

Service was turtle-slow: when i arrived at 3 pm i was informed that my room was only ready at 5 pm. when i went to check-in at 5 p.m , a long queue kept me waiting for more than 30 minutes. food at the bar took ages to arrive (30 minutes for a beer and 40 minutes or an egg&vegetable tart). a taxi i booked the next day, to get to chateau de chantilly took another 30 minutes to arrive. english language at reception was not proficient. the rooms were noisy, with creaking doors and paper-thin walls. the magnetic keycards kept failing. both natural and electric ligting in the bedroom was clearly insufficient - a window was below floor level in a pit (in the room) where there was a small table with a couple of chairs, accessed from a small staircase - there the carpet was soaking wet (central heating leak, probabbly). breakfast (1st morning, ok); 2nd morning they did not bother serving tea or coffee (had to call the waiters 3 times). they simply passed by, ignoring me.finally, when checking out, i had to cross twice the hotel to get someone to un-lock the key to the luggage storing room. overall the hotel needed a refurbishing/freshening-up.it reminded me of the 70´s/80´s series, fawlty towers, with john cleese.
