Friendly hotel

A continuing theme here, the rooms are small but clean. even without the heating on, they are stuffy as the windows do not open very far. i actually woke up during the night in a pool of sweat, most unpleasant! they really could do with fitting air conditioning to make these rooms much more comfortable. close enough to the city centre but far enough to be quiet. very welcoming with friendly staff. it was ideal for our weekend visit to manchester for the football and shopping! would use again but they do need to do something about these rooms....

Convenient manchester accomodation

I have stayed at chancellors twice before and it has consitently provided clean, comfortable accomodation. it is super convenient for on site conferences /courses. i have a special diet and the staff are helpful and well informed enough to allow me to have meals without feeling uncomfortable. it is quiet in the evenings unlike some travelodge type places i have stayed. curry mile is walkeable and there are cheap and cheerful places to eat nearby.

Not like the pictures!!

We genuinely thought we'd turned up at the wrong hotel. it's actually more of a conference centre and as such i imagine it's fine. as a "hotel" (and i use the term loosely) it's really not. the (small) double bed took up the entire room and you could only get down the sides of the bed walking sideways (at a squeeze). breakfast is included, if you want a greasy fried mess or a bit of toast. it's not that near to manchester, so if you want to stay in manc def stay in the centre. also the bar had an extensive wine list yet stocked none of it. (we were at a wedding there and couldn't buy a bottle of decent wine/champers or even prosecco as they didn't have any in! their loss in terms of revenue i guess!)

Our 4th stay here and as good as ever.

This unusualhotel/conference centre has a mix of architectural styles. the old part is given over to the more upmarket rooms whilst the newer section comprises single and double rooms as well as a number of conference rooms. there is a pleasant restaurant serving freshly cooked food and a little distance away is a small, intimate bar with views over the grounds. the rooms in the newer area are rather small as are the bathrooms: the distance between the bed and the walls either side could present difficulties for some people. that said, they are very comfortable with good quality linen and furnishings and are immaculately clean. on our last stay we were given a room on the ground floor which appeared to have been the subject of improvements; having just a shower instead of bath/shower meant that there was more space in the bathroom which was very welcome. the staff are friendly and very helpful and we intend to return there on our next visit to manchester.

Comfortable stay

Third time staying at the hotel - staff pleasant, food is generally good but the rooms are very tight. it's not a place for those who want evening entertainment. we use it when we visit our daughter in the university's halls of residence.

Weekend break

We really enjoyed our 2 night break the hotel was very nice and clean, the bedroom was a little small but for the price we can't complain . all the staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good. the location was ideal a short taxi drive to m e n centre and a short drive to trafford centre. so all in all a very nice weekend.

Chancellor hotel manchester

Adequate hotel but rooms very small and very warm impossible to cool them down, also pigeons nesting outside the window in the roof mean't poor sleep.

A weekend break

Quite location with comfortable accommodation and friendly service. the breakfast was very good and set us up for our days sight seeing in manchester which is easy to get to by bus or if you prefer to walk 3 miles and take in the university buildings.

Smallest double room in existence?

We chose this hotel for the proximity to manchester university and for the free parking. our room was disappointing as it was a single room with a double bed so space was extremely cramped. not even room for a bedside table each side of the bed! breakfast was included and was good so as we had only paid £54.75 instead of the £80 quoted on the hotel's direct web site we didn't complain too forcibly. taxis into the centre of town cost between £10 and £15 depending on the time of day. do be aware that the hotel is actually on the university campus but noise is not an issue and the hotel is clean, well furnished with pleasant staff.

Chacellors at the weekend

The hotel itself was very nice, set amoungst beautiful grounds and easy to find. i was a bit perturbed when i realised it was the university's rooms for post graduates and lecturers but this fear eased considerably when i realised there weren't hundreds of screaming drunken students running around. the room itself was very clean and simplistic, offering a comfortable bed and nice en-suite bathroom. it was a single room so a bit on the small side, but then you don't need a large room if you're by yourself and not doing much other than sleeping there. breakfasat was very nice but i was disappointed that it finished as early as 9.30am on the weekend. also check out being at 9.30am is far too early, however, they were willing to let me extend this to 10.30am by speaking to them in advance.
