Worst hotel ever

We use many hotels and always thought you cant get worst than ibis, until now the pull out bed had lumps in it, the light was hanging of the ceiling and the shower did not work, there was no one on reception and the one person i did find could not understand english, my daughters meal in the restaurant was only warm by the time she got it and was to embarrassed to tell me as she did not want me to say something. an experience i would not like to repeat. the location the only good thing about it was the location

County hotel review

Checked into hotel and got a smoking room on first floor overlooking front of hotel and main road. there doesn't appear to be a lift but i believe there are rooms on the ground floor. corridor to room was smelly with stale cigarette smoke (i'm the non-smoker so i noticed it more) so i assume all the rooms on that first floor are smoking. on first impressions room was a decent size with tea/coffee facilities, en-suite and tv. on closer look the room was quite tired with stained carpet and holes in bedding and curtains.the lampshades were also singed and burnt and could do with replacing. albeit a smoking room there was no ashtray! tv is basic with 5 channels and a couple of pay per view movie channels. bathroom a little dated looking. towel rail did not work whilst we were there so we could not really re-use our bath towels. shower was really hot with high pressure but could be placed higher (if you are over 5'6" you will have to bend to wash your hair!). breakfast is buffet style in a large restaurant area. when we got to breakfast the hot food looked as if it had been lying for about an hour and was inedible, although the waitress did bring out fresh fried eggs just as we finished our breakfast. there was a selection of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, fruit juices, toast. hot food consisted of dried up baked beans, deep fried dripping with grease fried bread, rubbery fried eggs, overcooked sausages and bacon that you could break a tooth on. (this was just our opinion of one morning's breakfast). all in all hotel was cheap for london and is in a quiet area.i would not however call it "modern" or rate it a "three star", more like two. we chose it because we have family living 10 mins walk away but it is about 20 mins walk(uphill on the way back)from the nearest train station to take you to liverpool street. this is ok for young people but i wouldn't recommend for older people who want to travel into the city.
