Karl johan hotel, oslo

Very friendly and efficient service. a good-sized family room. excellent standard of cleanliness, and a very pleasant breakfast room with a good choice of different types of breakfast food. for a central location in oslo, the price was very reasonable. the one disadvantage was noise (shouting and music) from the street (karl johans gate) during friday and saturday night, but this is of course not the fault of the hotel.

Karl johan... the mega mega boom ting!!

The location is the top reason i loved this hotel so much! it sits slap bang in the karl johan entertainment square offering everything a late teen or young adult needs to keep them partying until stupid o'clock in the morning. we managed to get 2 rooms overlooking the square, directly onto the ice skating rink which tumps out norweigan and english music from about 9am until 2am through huge speakers so all you need to do is open the windows and you have some tunes to keep you going. if your stupid /brave / skilled enough to tackle ice skating the hotel has some brand new skates you can borrow for free but beware the toddlers who swarm the skating rink like flies on fresh crap. within 5 minutes walking are loads of bars (start in andy's directly over the square), clubs (try mosquito's 4 minutes walk out the hotel door and to the right), restaurants (the pizza place directly on the other side of the square to the left does an all you can eat deal for 100 kronas (£10) and thats cheap for oslo!), seafront (food and drink here is expensive though), shopping complexes (all stock much more stylish garms than the uk) plus everyone speaks (and seem to love the) english. top place! all the norweigan girls who came back to the karl johan hotel thought we were millionnaires even though it was about £30 per person per night. boom ting!!

Very enjoyable stay. quality of rooms is more 3 star than 4 star, however this is more than made up for by the excellent location.

Great central hotel

We stayed for four nights b&b and i can honestly say that this is the friendliest and pleasant hotel we have syed at. staff all very polite and eager to please. the breakfast is continental but all good quality food, plenty of choice and caters for all tastes. because i told he hotel my booking was for a birthday present we were given a lovely big (smoking) room at the front of the hotel, amazing view and could not be more central. we would definately book karl johan again. thoroughly recommend it
