Central chain hotel
central chain hotel
the hotel is located very centrally, near to grand place.
if you have pre-booked, then make sure you have your vouchers to hand - they are needed at the point of check-in no matter how deeply they are buried in your bag. in my case it was useful to pull the voucher out as the hotel had misrecorded my departure date - easily corrected, no serious problem, though having changed their records they did not alter the day on which my room key stopped working.
i had single occupancy of a double room. quite small. two small single beds, a thin mattress over a divan, soft and not giving restful sleep. the hotel prides itself on its environmental qualities, but these mainly show themselves in the lighting being a bit dim to read by. hotel tv has 50 channels, i noticed two in english (cnn and bbc3). fridge, with one gratis bottle of water per stay (no minibar). my room overlooked a lightwell. no external noise, but internal sound insulation is poor: i could hear my neighbours showering, clattering about. thick curtains kept out most of the light. clean. ineffectual air conditioning.
bathroom was ok, dove/lux liquid soap. thin towels. clean.
breakfast was a standard buffet, though the room felt a bit like cafeteria. waiters lean across you to clear things off the table. poor machine coffee. financial times provided at breakfast.
the hotel has an internet terminal for guest use. ask at reception for a password for free use.
