Apex tower hill

Good central location very close to tower hill underground and mainline stations. good selection of restaurants in area. hotel reception were very efficient and courteous making booking in and out a fast simple process. breakfast had a very good selection of foods, first class. as someone who tends to be very particular and picky i really couldn't fault this hotel.very comfy bed, good size room , big bathroom. we don't use the leisure or bar facilities and wanted just a good, clean room and breakfast. this hotel was perfect for that.

Lovely stay

It was in a good location, 10 mins by bus (bus stop around corner) to covent garden and near tower hill underground. breakfast was lovely. requested an upper floor room which we got but it was a disabled room. the bedroom itself was good but the bathroom was modified for disabled use, although it did not spoil the overall experience of the weekend. nice extras, lovely toiletries. all the staff were very friendly and helpful. visited the rooftop bar at a nearby hotel, giving lovely night time views over tower bridge, shard etc. a bit pricey but worth a drink there.

Great hotel and location

The apex city of london is a very nice hotel situated in the city area closeby to tower bridge. the room we had was clean and spacious with a very nice bathroom and huge bed. we had the continental breakfast included in our rate and the food was very good. tower hill and monument tube stations are nearby providing easy access to all areas of london. staff were helpful and friendly.

They've got most things right in this hotel. this is the 3rd time i've stayed at the apex. it's clean and comfortable. the staff are friendly and helpful. the facilities are good. continental breakfast comes as standard and has a decent choice but for the price i think full english should be included. i'll be back.

40th birthday, six months late

I went to the apex for a weekend break with my sister to celebrate her 40th birthday. it was a great choice - very nice hotel, excellent and helpful staff and extremely well equipped and decorated. only point against is that it is in the city and if you're going to be spending anytime in the west end - as we were - it's a long old haul on the tube and taxis cost. it's not inconvenient; in fact, it's a short stroll from tower hill tube, but you do have to factor in travelling time and that can add up. on the plus side it's in the city and i found it fascinating just walking around checking out the ridiculous street names.

A great spot to stay

We were offered this hotel when the one we wanted was fully booked - we were not disappointed. the hotel is a stones throw from the tower of london and tower bridge and just a minute from the tube at tower hill. being in the heart of the financial district it is busy in the week but nice and quiet at the weekend. the rooms are very nice with enornmous beds and showers plus bath, and air con, fridge, and safe. the continental breakfast is fine and was included in the price but the full english was over priced - you may consider booking room only as there is a weatherspoons pub just on the corner of the road which does breakfast for £2.99; they had quite a bit of our custom over the weekend as the drinks in the hotel are overpriced. all things considered we would definitely go back again.

Recent stay in the qapex london

The hotel is very modern, as are the rooms. the staff are friendly and their is a pc with internet access free to use, although only one for the whole hotel. this time we stayed in teh new part of the hotel. the rooms very really nice (although when we first arrived are room had rubbish and used shower gel still in it? but the staff quickly deal with this.) we haev a window over the street which was a bit noisey, but that's london. the only thing is that the hotel is about 30mins via tube to oxford/bond street, where we had planed to shop and eat that night, a taxi is around £30-35 to the bond street area so the tube is a must.

Another great weekend at the apex

Its such a good modern hotel that has great facilities. the location is great for us near the river and away from the bustle of the city. not for you if you want to be among clubs and multiple pubs, but there are some nice restaurants and pubs nearby for quite evenings. it is right next to the river which lends itself to some beautiful evening walks and right next to the tube station if you want to get in on the action a bit more.

Nice touches

I was a bit sceptical about the reviews but am happy to reveal that they were spot on. some hotels are mean, this one isn't. it gave generous amounts of toileteries, soft drinks and space in both the bedroom and bathroom. nice touches were the shoe shine block, free cd rental and the yellow plastic duck on the bath which made me smile as it squeaked when it was pressed! the continental breakfast was fresh and and there was a good choice. the apex is clean and good value for money. it is staffed by people who are very welcoming. i'll be back in three months.

Loved this hotel. there are not many hotels in london that will live up to expectations but this one did. the hotel is spotless, the rooms modern and very comfortable. the staff were all friendly and the buffet breakfast was excellent. we appreciated the generous amount of toiletries in the bathroom and the large walk in shower. the hotel is in a great location as it is in a quiet street yet just a short walk to tower hill tube station and the tower of london etc. i would stay in this hotel again.

Very handy

This is the second time we've stayed at the apex city and have enjoyed both times. although the room this time around was smaller than the previous visit, it was still very clean and comfortable. the rubber duck in the bathroom is a quirky addition and as he's complimentary, he's been introduced to the duck from our previous visit which now lives in our bathroom. the continental breakfast was good with plenty of fruit, cheeses, meats and breads.

Pleasant stay in good classy area

My fiance and i stayed in the apex on the second night of our theatre break after staying at the grange city for the first night. although, it lacked the splendour and opulance of the grange, the apex was very slick and modern. the hotel was very clean and well presented throughout, and great value for money. the rooms were modern and spacious and very tastefully decorated. it's gym has good quality cv but a poor/non-existant strength range. the continental breakfast was excellent as far as continentals go, and the service from reception was excellent (very friendly). the hotel is in a good location next to london tower and the marina with excellent upmarket wine bars and places to eat. would definately stay here again.

Apex london - review

Have stayed twice here as great location for exploring the city. very nice, clean modern rooms. only dissapointment was on this occasion was one of the rooms we reserved smelt very badly of stale cigarette smoke. whilst the smoking ban came into force in july 2007 it was clear that someone had smoked in this room and unfortunatley it was not possible to switch rooms as the hotel was fully booked. a great shame.

Good location, good price (for london) and good service

My own experience of london hotels isn't that vast to be honest but judging from what friends and family have spent on hotels in london i was wasn't expecting anything amazing for under £100 for a double. but i was pretty surprised. the location is great - only mintues walk from tower hill tube station and right next to the tower of london and tower bridge (great for just wandering around and sightseeing). the service was excellent - very helpful and polite staff and the room was good - stlishly decorated with tv and dvd player, shower and bath. all in all i'd definately recommend this hotel

Great stay

We really enjoyed our stay - helped by an upgrade so that, for once, we had a partial view of the city. usually we have standard rooms which are a bit small, but they are very stylish and we don't go to london to stay in the room. the city is quiet at the weekend, good for sleeping at night and for exploring the back streets in the morning. as always, the continental breakfast was great - strawberries and blueberries are a good start to the morning. staff are helpful and friendly.

Definitely worth investigating

Good value, provided you can get a deal. location ok, provided underground circle line is running which it quite regularly isn't at weekends at the moment; otherwise, there's quite a walk to nearest stations, or you're dependent on expensive taxis. despite proximity to wonderful tower bridge, few if any rooms have a view of it. rooms are on what americans would definitely call the minute side of 'neat', but pleasingly modern, thoughtfully furnished, and clean. as previous reviews have pointed out, there's a stupid policy of not replacing soap, even when used up. continental breakfast - which you should get included in any deal - is good; cooked, which may be good, seems prohibitively expensive.

As an airline pilot i've stayed in hundreds of generic hotels..therefore, what a pleasure finding the apex in london.it is very much 'funky-chic'and very stylish, the rooms are exceptionally comfortable and the breakfast was 'pure-dead-brilliant' as they say in scotland.. a full scottish: bacon, sausages, black pudding, haggis and tattie-scones,etc,etc..the hotel's location is perfect being within a minutes walk from tower hill underground station and right next to the tower of london. i fully recommend this hotel and have enjoyed it enough to have visited twice already.enjoy!! gerry mulholland.

A night in the apex

My stay was intended to be a little city get away for my partner and i and it was just that, it was only 1 night but then i only live 40mins from the centre of town anyway. the hotel is presented in a modern, well furbished, elegantly decorated and functional atmosphere. that isn't to detract from it's chic set up and fabulous service. as the hotel is almost in the heart of the financial district - and i checked in on a sunday - it was quiet, peaceful and almost totally empty. due to its location the immediate area is mostly deserted with the exception of the tourist crowds coming to the tower of london, and it is walking distance from london bridge. this is not a negative point though, not only is the area very lively during weekdays it is also a stones throw from a tube station and walking distance from some lovely area's of london.

Hotel location is great - really close to the underground and within a few minutes walk of tower bridge and the tower of london. the hotel itself is nice - very clean, with modern well-equipped rooms and a large bathroom. the little rubber duck was a nice touch. only downside to the room was an irritating hum all night (from the air conditioning?). we were only staying one night. if we'd stayed longer i'd have asked to move room. the continental breakfast was good with fresh fruit, pastries, cheese etc. the price we got (about £80 for a saturday night and continental breakfast) was very good value for central london. overall we were very pleased with finding this hotel (thanks to trip advisor) and would be happy to stay here again when visiting london.

Great hotel great price!

Brilliant hotel. excellent service and rooms which were a good size and spotlessly clean. lovely crisp white sheets on a very comfortable bed. the staff are very pleasant and helpful, nothing too much trouble. they also will hold luggage for you on arrival if it is before check in time and also when you leave your room ( which is 12 o'clock) until your departure time. hotel is situated in the business district very close to tower bridge but a tube ride is needed to get to the west end for the shows and shops. however this is not a problem as the tube station is just across the road from the hotel and a day pass in zones 1 and 2 is only £5. overall excellent value for money. i will certainly be trying to book an apex hotel on our next city visit which will be to edinburgh.

Nice rooms!

We stayed one saturday night when the tibes were down and both the district and circle line to twer hill were both down. it was then a bit out of the way and a bit of a walk from the next tube. the room was small but with lovely modern and clean decor. the reception staff were not that helpful and left us to ask the questions we wanted about breakfast times, sauna details and check out. nothing too obscure but they didnt offer any information. the breakfast was good but the organisation was slow and we had to wait a long time for a table and then half of the food was gone and they had run out- get there early. beware of the expensive drinks and flat coke! overall we would go back if the price was right because of the clean and modern rooms but i wouldnt drink there !
