Outstanding hotel!!

This hotel far exceeded our expectation, the price was really good considering the location and the facilities available. the 'standard' room was really big with a king size bed and a really good size shower. we were unaware of a swimming pool, had we have known we would have brought swimming stuff with us. the service was excellent, staff were very friendly & helpful.

Modern hotel

Modern and functional hotel, well placed for the excel centre and london city airport. easy to get to from dlr. aimed at business users so some facilities not available during the day (e.g. bar)

Great location and price but let down on service and food

The room was great, the view was great, the location was excellent. issues: 1) queued nearly an hour to check in as there were insufficient staff to cater for all the people who's seminar at the excel had just finished 2) it took another 30 minutes to get my bag bag from storage 3) there was almost no food left at the food shop and the queue took about 20 minutes to serve 10 people. in a city location this hotel might be great, but they need to cater for the fact that when you have 7,000 people in a seminar 30 seconds walk away.

Worth it in every way..

When searching for a hotel, i specified '4 stars' 'pool' 'breakfast' and 'under £100 a night for the family of 3, not expecting much if anything to be available in july. i was right, there wasn't much. however, there was the aloft which we had passed a few months ago when staying at the ramada (docklands) and had dismissed as 'obviously out of our price range'. this is a brilliant hotel, offering quality rooms, good range and quality of food and a friendly hard working staff that the aloft should be proud of. the pool and sauna, supplied with fresh towels, is brilliant, like being in the tropics, the gym offers a comprehensive range of activities and is extra chilled, ideal for a hard work-out. i always thought staying in the centre of london was important and struggled to find a deal that would't put me into a third grade hotel at first grade prices, with the superb transport links now available by tube, rail, river and cable car, the outer docklands area offers a relief from the dusty noisy centre of town and at still affordable prices. travel costs? buy a river bus family day-ticket and use the emirates cable car for a day... or a daily off-peak travelcard (children travel free) get to stay in a brilliant hotel at a bargain price... mmmmm perhaps i should have kept quiet and kept this to myself..

Perfect for the o2

Stayed at the aloft 2 nights friday and saturday. a lovely modern hotel with excellent facilities. we traveled to the o2 twice once on the emirates cable car and once using dlr ( which was closed for two days for line replacement) buses were abundant as replacement. we also traveled into the center of london all very easy, right from the hotel. the hotel is right at the side of the excel building. the rooms are well equipped we even had a fridge the bar area is very nice . there was plenty of choice for breakfast and there is a small deli if you want to buy your on cereal ,wraps, paninis coffee and alike. overall a good choice , will definitly be staying again.xx

Perfect location

This hotel was a perfect location as we were going to a concert at the o2. the rooms were modern, clean and quiet. the staff were very helpful and friendly. this is the second time we have used this hotel and would choose it every time. it is in an up and coming area with plenty of bars restaurants and cafes to eat in. full english breafast was available which was new as it wasnt available on our last stay and have no complaints. prince regent dlr is a 2 min walk away.

Great value and stylish hotel

The children and i had a great stay at the aloft whilst enjoying the sights of london. positives: very stylish contemporary hotel on the outskirts of london away from the hustle and bustle. everything we needed in the room including bottles of water, tea and coffee facilities, tv, hairdryer, fantastic super king bed which was so comfortable. next day the towels and tea/coffee/water were all abundantly replenished when servicing the room. breakfast was fabulous - freshly prepared eggs to suit with a full range of cooked buffet options plus cereals, muffins (amazing), fresh fruit. tea, coffee (in every form), juices - can't fault it! swimming pool and sauna great and wish i'd taken gym kit as gym looked fab. staff very helpful and responded promptly to any questions or requests. negatives are only little niggles - hairdryer cord doesn't stretch far enough to use hairdryer standing at mirror comfortably so had to sit on floor to use at full length mirror. tv - couldn't get all channels - only bbc1 and 2 of main ones plus some random foreign ones and had to pay for most options (unless we just couldn't work it but tried every which way), child's bed was an inflatable which he didn't find that comfortable (but they did put a selection of toys , sweets and a kids london map there for him to find which was a nice touch). i though restaurant was a bit expensive in evening but food lovely and the n realised that the prices were comparable to most of london. slightly far out of london so be prepared to use the dlr and change to get to sights - but relatively easy if slightly time and money consuming. used the pool both days - very relaxing starts top what turned out to be manic afternoons and evenings in london. all in all a good value and pleasurable stay- 11 year old son was sad to leave and wants to go back asap!
