Abode good hotel. room location and size a let down

The abode hotel's location is excellent. staff very pleasant and helpful - 10 out of 10. breakfast and dining room food excellent. the furnishings and cleanliness of our room was good. the only disappointing thing about this hotel was the location of our room - ground floor, overlooking a narrow yard with all the pipes coming from the kitchen and could not open the window because of the cooking smells from the extractor fan. also room was very small - only 2 star standard in this respect. also the air conditioning in our room would not heat-up and the central heating radiator only worked in the bathroom - good thing it was not cold weather.

Art house - masterpiece

The hotel is two minutes (up hill, so get a taxi) from central station. it's very central in terms of shopping and only a 30 minute walk from the kelvingrove museum. the staff were uniformly helpful during our stay - especially those working in the restaurant for breakfast. we had one of the "comfortable" rooms. it wasn't huge but i've paid more and stayed in worse. the bathroom was a nice size with plenty of "freebies" but no bathrobes in this type of room - although i believe that they are provided in the more expensive ones. there is a dvd player and flatscreen tv in each room and dvds to be borrowed from reception. the room was well furnished - although there was no "comfy" chair, just a dressing table and chair. bed linen was lovely - egyptian cotton and a throw for those lounging-on-top-of-the-covers times. breakfast was very fine. the full scottish breakfast was included in our rate and it lived up to its name - no need for lunch. we went to the bar both nights and found it warm and inviting without being too noisy - but we were only there wednesday and thursday nights. overall i would definitely recommend it and will be returning.
