I booked this hotel expecting decaying grandeur, knowing that other reviews had criticised stair carpets for being worn etc. i would have been quite happy with that myself! we were surprised to be in a modern low-ceilinged annex, with no windows, which was rather a shock. the "window" was a roof light with an electric blind to cover it, which was very clearly broken. the washbasin was also badly cracked. everything except our room was fine - but since we were only staying for one night, the room was quite important.
