The hotel that time forgot – still okay, considering the price

The regal pacific is one of those hotels that once had five stars, perhaps for a reason, but then time forgot all about them. the rooms show age: the fitted carpets are worn, the bath is in desperate need of a renovation. but the bed was comfortable, sizewise the room was okay although not really up what you would expect of a modern five star, wifi worked although slowly and the room was clean. the good thing is that time forgot to update the prices, too, so the hotel is a bargain. i paid €80/night, breakfast and tax included, and that was over new year's. room service was fast and affordable, too. the service was friendly and reception staff speak good english. breakfast was not up to five star standards, but quite okay with a variety of both warm and cold items available. loved the chirimoya juice! the hotel is located in las condes, a peaceful, affluent and safe area, and right next to manquehue metro station, so access to the centro is good. there's also a big lider supermarket 200 m from the hotel. they organize airport transportation for $42. if you need a lot of pampering and demand five star standards, stay elsewhere. but if you are attracted by the price and want a reliable, comfortable place to stay (think four stars), then stay at the regal pacific. i had a great stay and after reading the reviews here, knew what to expect, so i wasn't disappointed. the regal pacific will be my choice again, should i visit santiago another time.
