Stayed at astor on the park for 3 nights. location good, helpful and friendly attendant. the hotel is dated and very basic, the room is small, no tea/coffee, have to pay for wifi. our window did not have any locks. one consolation the bed was comfortable. the hotel did have a few guess, but this place is strictly just to sleep at. if on a budget yes, if you like a liitle more comfort think twice.

Esta frente a central park pero un poco alejado del centro dice tener wifi pero no está incluido en los precios al igual q la tele por cable te cobran todo aparte el café de la esquina está muy bien para desayunar y tiene wifi gratis

Great location close to central park. worn rooms and no refrigerator, no coffeemaker which was really bad for that price you pay. service was good, but the staff in the reception sometimes gave an indifferent impression. we had expected more from this hotel.

Era la seconda volta che soggiornavo nello stesso hotel. a differenza della prima volta la camera che ci e' stata fornita aurea volta era rumorosa. tutta la notte si sentiva il rumore della metro, e lo sciacquone che si caricava. inoltre la doccia era rotta.

It's the second time i go to astor on the park and it's a great hotel, not really expensive for manhattan, clean and with a very friendly staff. the subway is not really far (5 minutes)so it's easy to go to every place you want to visit.

Siamo stati bene, purtroppo siamo capitati in una stanza, la 607, dove passava il tubo dell'impianto di riscaldamento che serve l'intero palazzo, quindi ogni volta che si metteva in moto, sembrava di essere in miniera: sbuffo continuo di vapore, scoppi, e rumore come di gran martellate sui muri...abbiamo chiesto di cambiare camera e in terza giornata ci hanno proposto una camera piccolissima con un letto ad una oiazza e mezza che abbiamo rifiutato.siamo tornati nella precedente dormendo negli intervalli in cui il riscaldamento non funzionatva.... se dovessi tornare hiederei una sanza senza questo problema. raccomandere a tutti di pretendere una stanza silenziosa, se non fosse disponibile, consiglierei di non prenotare in questo albergo.

Having spent hours over endless days earching for a reasonably priced hotel in nyc, we found the astor on the park on the hotelsclick.com website. it was at a much lower price than anything else we had seen (£310 for 4 nights) so we had strong reservations as to the quality to expect. we already knew that the hotel wasnt central to broadway but it was only a $12 taxi ride away or less on the subway. we walked leisurely to the centre of manhattan through central park in about an hour on our first morning - which was a great way to start our break. the hotel was not luxurious but definitely worth money. the bedroom was of an adequate size, clean and the en suite also clean and smart. we didnt need to spend much time in the hotel so didnt venture into the dining room or try out any facilities that they may or may not have had. given the huge difference in price between this hotel and others that are not that far away, i would certainly choose this hotel every time and spend the money you save on enjoying yourself in the city. thoroughly recommended

Super acceuil avec un rapport qualite prix très interessant. les chambres sont propres et faites tous les jours (ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas dans des hotels plus chers). emplacement idéal, près de central park, pas loin du métro qui permet de gagner les sites intéressant en moins de 15'. calme la nuit.

Abbiamo soggiornato per 5 notti in questo albergo. la camera e' abbastanza spoglia e anonima, ma penso che non interessi a nessuno avere dei bei quadri in camera quando sei in vacanza!!! letti grandi e comodissimi, bagno grande e pulitissimo. personale molto cordiale e disponibilissimo. metropolitana a pochissima distanza. clientela di ogni eta'.

L'hotel est bien situé en face de central park, bien placé entre deux stations de métro mais dans un quartier un peu calme qui manque de commerces et/ou restaurants. le personnel est très attentionné et aimable. les chambres et les sanitaires sont propres et agréables mais je regrette qu'il n'y ait pas de table + une chaise au moins dans la chambre. cela dit cela rest d'un excellent rapport qualité prix.

Se non avete grosse pretese considerato il prezzo questo albergo va bene. le camere sono minuscole, la nostra aveva pure il pavimento sfondo sotto alla moquette. pero' aveva il bagno in camera ben fatto e pulito. peccato il condizionatore facesse molto rumore. personale cortese. posizione a pochi passi dalla metro e di fronte alla fermata dell'autobus. fate attenzione alla reception insegnano come usare l'acqua della doccia,non e' molto intuitivo....

Siamo rimasti a new york 8 notti e l'hotel astor è stato parte integrante della riuscita della vacanza.si trova un pò fuori dal centro pulsante della città, ma per noi alla fine è stata una nota positiva, dovendo tornarci solo per dormire ed essendo la metro comodissima e la zona tranquilla anche di sera.il personale è gentilissimo e sempre disponibile.la reception aperta 24h su 24 e la pulizia impeccabile.le camere sono tante e la nostra era forse tra le piu piccole e senza vista sul parco, ma visto il prezzo pagato e le nostre esigenze andava benissimo.ascensore piccolo ma funzionante.consigliamo a 5 minuti il ristorante"crepes on columbus"(sulla columbus av.)per colazioni/pranzi e cene buonissime e abbastanza tipiche a prezzi ragionevoli(in albergo non troverete che 2 macchinette automatiche!).buona vacanza!

Beautiful location across the road from central park.if you dont mind walking its a reasonable distance to all major attractions and is very close to subway. looking at previous reviews i didnt expect the room to be as big but i was pleasantly suprised. had a lovely room overlooking central park. the room was very clean and had a decent sized bathroom with a great shower. room was cleaned every day and clean linen provided every day. we were there in december when it was freezing and the room was lovely and warm. our room was on the 11th floor. there is one small lift to cater for the entire hotel which can be slow enough at times. the staff were friendly and helpful. overall had a very pleasant stay and would recommend it.

Nice spot across the street from central park. a couple of streets away from the subway, which is really convenient. the rooms were small but cozy and clean, the bathroom was clean and fresh. great people at the front desk at all times, very helpful and nice.

I thoroughly enjoyed my three-night stay. rooms are nice, linens extra plush and the room has all you need while in nyc. i liked the location, and either the bus or subway is close by. front desk staff very accommodating. it is not a luxury hotel, but at the price i paid, it was a deal! i would recommend this for seasoned travelers who are looking for a safe, secure bedroom while in ny.

Nice little hotel. the room was quite small, but clean and with a well equiped bathroom. the room was cleaned daily, including fresh towels. the staff was friendly and helpfull. nearest subway is less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. no restaurant and no breakfast available.

If you are coming to ny to see the city and just to sleep in a hotel - this is the right place for the right price. room is clean, bed is good, shower is excellent, bathtub is ok. the room is bigger than in paris, but i got twin and there were no free space almost. this could be inconvinient for elders and families with children. but in general it is fine if you only need to sleep there. hotel is 5 min walk to the subway, central part is just across the street. broadway is a bit distant (~10 min walk) and there is no good eating places within 5 min walk. it is better to take subway to 50th st or to walk to broadway. front desk people are nice and friendly, there is a man who speaks english, german, french and italian - he is very helpful if you need to orient yourself in ny, and dont forget to tip him :) ps: i dont know if hotel provides breakfast - never get a hotel breakfast in ny - just take almost any eating place before 98th st (98th and less). even if it looks terrible outside, it will serve a good food inside.

Our stay at astor on the park was very enjoyable. the location was very good - it was far enough away from the hussle and bustle of downtown but still close enough to walk to times square, etc if we were feeling energetic!! having central park across the road was fantastic!!! the staff were friendly and the room was clean. we were offered an airport taxi service when we checked out which was very helpful - it wasn't just a taxi either, it was a chauffered town car!! the only problem we had was that we asked for a non-smoking room but were given a room that smelled of smoke. on the whole, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

Stayed for a week and have no complaints whatsoever. was a bit apprehensive about location and allegedly small rooms but both were fine. very convenient for subway - short walk to 96th or 103rd st stations - and felt very safe walking in are4a even at night. hadn't much dealings with staff but those we had were excellent including looking after bags the day we left and ordering taxi early to avoid rush hour on way to jfk. higly recommend a stay and would defintlely go back there again.

We arrived late in the evening with lots of luggage and the receptionist immediately arranged a bigger room for us for the same price. that was very convenient because most hotelrooms in nyc are quite small and now we even had an extra bed.

Had a fabulouis time. the hotel was very clean and reception so helpful and friendly. looking at the cost of other hotels this was an amazing bargain. although on central park it was a journey out, to be fair the metro is easy to navigate. would i recommend it - you bet!!

The room we stayed in was very small, but the cleanliness was excellet. it was right across from central park, there is a lovely deli just down the street. it is only a few minutes walk from the subway and close to all the museums. we were very concerned after we read certain reviews on this site. but after staying there i would have no hesitation in recommending it. i will also be staying there on my return

I had a lovely stay at the astor. the room barely fitted two double beds, but was clean and very warm. lots of soft towels too. beds comfortable. staff very nice. please clean the valences though and earn the full five stars for cleanliness. location a little bit too far from the main part of town, but we took the metro, or walked through central park which was a lovely bonus.

I would never stay here again nor recommend it to anyone. the only thing i was totally satisfied with was the housekeeping. the rooms were inadequately furnished and the hotel was greatly in need of refurbishment and redecoration. the attitude of staff on the front desk was appalling. we had to change rooms due to the radiator in our room spurting boiling hot water out of the valve. i had previously reported a problem. could not get through to front desk on the phone so went down personally and found out the front desk phone was off the hook. there was no apology. even had to demand a similar room and refuse the inferior room offered. very disappointing.

We stayed at the hotel for five nights and found the hotel to be clean and reasonably priced. it is only three blocks away from the subway. the staff were friendly and helpful. although there was some initial confusion over our booking, this was quickly resolved without fuss.

Be prepared to be woken up at 5am by prehistoric plumbing in this hotel. the pipes are not buried in the wall but are open and straight through the bathroom. walls are thin. on the plus side it was clean. the bed was comfortable. the shower was great and they have lots of little potion bottles.tv had 3 working stations with very poor reception it's miles away from downdown so walking isn't really an option but the subway isn't too far and of course there are loads of taxis $10 per trip in and out and that's only to the edge of manhatten

Viaggio parecchio e fra gli aspetti più sgradevoli di una camera di albergo metto il rumore notturno e la stanza fredda. questo è uno dei migliori posti insonorizzati con una stanza calda pronta ad accoglierti dopo ore di "vagabondaggio" metropolitano. un neo? le dimensioni microscopiche della stanza. ne abbiamo visionate altre, (ormai prenotate), molto più ampie. nel complesso pulitissimo e consigliabile per l'ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo!

We wanted a cheap, clean en-suite room close to the subway and this place was perfect. the room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom much better than i was expecting. size-wise our room was fine for 2 people and we heard stories of rooms in much pricier hotels that were smaller than ours. bad points were a hissing noise from the toilet (we closed the bathroom door and slept fine) and reception were a bit flaky on taking messages (they told my friend that i wasn't staying there). overall, for a budget place this is fine. i'd gladly stay there again.

Stayed 4 nights. room small but no other complaints. area okay to walk around at night. great restaurant (flor de mayo) on amsterdam on 84th street. not a long walk. easy access to subways. rooms cleaned daily and staff very friendly. definitely would stay again.

Overall, this hotel offers great value for money. although we had to move twice during our stay, once due to a broken toilet and then due to faulty ac, the staff were very obliging and helpful. being so close to central park was a big plus. the subway is only a couple of blocks away and there are many restaurants and takeaways nearby. the rooms are very clean and tidy and the bathroom is quite spacious for a little room. overall, i would definitely return to astor on the park.

Hotel was good, what it states to offer is exactly what you get, the only negative is the location..ok for parts of central park but the sightseeing is a bit of a distance..advise to get cab's evrywhere pretty cheap..but overall a good hotel for its star rating.

Ottima posizione (vicinissimo al centro di manhattan) e ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo in relazione al posto. il quartiere dove si trova è molto tranquillo, pulito, e con il meraviglioso central park di fronte. del resto lo aveva scelto anche john lennon! stanze pulite e funzionali, l'unica nota dolente (si fa per dire) è l'ascensore, lentissimo e guasto in un paio di occasioni (io ero al 10° piano....), ma direi che ci si puà passare sopra! lo consiglio vivamente a tutti!

Room was small but expected this from reading other reviews. reception and staff all extremely helpful which made up for the hotel being small. on arrival our toilet wasn't working properly and they fixed it immediately. subway station only 2 blocks away which made it very easy and cheap to get around. we wouldn't recommend the open top bus tour as sold by the receptionist as you can get it cheaper direct in the shop for the tour operator. this hotel isn't the ritz but it is a good base to explore from and we felt safe travelling on the subway. shame nowhere nearby to get breakfast - you have to travel really.

Budget accommodation, don’t expect anything else. rooms are extremely small and basic. located in a residential area, the nearest place to eat is on the broadway, which is four avenues away (approx 10 min walk). o.k. value for money if you get a good deal.

Perfect for a low-cost stay in nyc. nothing fancy, but very friendly, clean and practical. worked for me. rooms are small but clean. a little cold but not too bad. i've read on other sites that radiators were loud, walls thin, dirty windows...i didn't find any of those things true. slept well in courtyard facing room. asked to switch to park facing room second night (had read reviews saying these were better rooms) but only lasted a few hours in which i tried to nap and couldn't because sounds of traffic - particularly busses screeching to a stop and beeping - were so loud on street/park side. room was bigger, but i switched back to 1st night room for quiet. staff was very accomodating and friendly. thanks!! i'd recommend a courtyard room (i stayed in 410) for quiet.
