Beautiful island - terrible service!

Mont st michel is an amazing island. the history is incredible and it's gorgeous. our stay at this hotel was disappointing. here is why: 1. we got no instructions for how to get on the island once we arrived. we had a rental car and had to park in a very specific parking lot (which cost 12 euros per day - which we also weren't told about) and take a shuttle to the island. when there is a language barrier, this can be frustrating to figure out on your own. it would have been very easy for them to give those instructions ahead of time. fyi - there is a pretty steep climb once you get to the island, so pack lightly. we were fine but saw others who really struggled. 2. wifi was imperative for my husband and myself, who own a company and work while on vacation. we called ahead and were told that they have wifi. when we got there, it was mysteriously not working. yet they never apologized, never gave us an estimate for when it would be fixed, and clearly didn't care. what's even more frustrating was that we heard the front desk clerk telling people that the wifi was working after telling us that it wasn't. 3. the free breakfast was nice, but the staff wasn't. my mother asked to sit next to a window (at a table that was empty) and the worker refused to allow us to sit there. then she seated the very next group that came in at that table. what?!?! no apology (which seems to be normal in france). my husband was so frustrated with the hotel that he says he'll never go back to st michel again. i would go back - but would stay at another hotel. i know there aren't many choices on the island, but i'd try one of the others. my husband and i travel in france pretty frequently, so we're not sensitive to what other americans consider rude french people, but these staff members were over the top rude.
