We stayed here for 1 night in may. although quite a dark place everything was fine. our room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. the staff were very friendly and the scottish breakfast was delicious. the location is in lauriston place which is a 5 minute walk from the grassmarket. ot was formerly the simpson maternity hospital so it has quite a bit of history.

We spent 3 nights at the best western hotel in lauriston place, edinburgh. we booked well in advance and got an excellent price (£155 for 2, breakfast included). the place was clean, comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. the location was excellent, with easy access to most places of interest. noise was a problem, but was overcome with the use of earplugs; the hotel might think of providing these with the bathroom toiletries. perhaps a room on another side might have been quieter. i would stay there again
