Hotel has character
The building in which the hotel is located must be quite old and the hotel itself shows signs of having been remodelled/modernized (i.e., en suite bathrooms these days). it is a bit run down, but in a nice way that give the hotel character (in marked contrast to other italian hotels that i've stayed in that had an elaborate lobby and squalid rooms). my room was large and airy (it was a double) but some of my colleagues were in single rooms that they said were small with noise from next door. the location is great. next to the main train station, 100 meters from the main airport bus drop-off point and fronting on to the main city centre. this does mean that there is a lot of traffic noise if you have an outside-facing room. breakfast was very varied and fresh food rather than stuff in packs. the hotel's recommendations for restaurants were all good.
