Decent hotel in indecently overpriced london
Though it's been refurbished not so many years ago, it's beginning to show some tear and wear in the rooms, but still in good shape. as someone else said, the decor is more "english cottage" than "urban hotel"; i liked that; it felt less impersonal. location is really good, in a good neighbourhood, very well connected to any part of london, thanks to its ample public transportation offer. the staff was generally kind and willing to help, especially the spaniards (the hotel itself has become part of the spanish chain nh, and it definitively shows), though there was the odd sour face... breakfast was varied, british or continental to freely choose. one caveat, possibly of application to most hotels: bring earplugs, in case your rooms faces the street. all in all, a good experience, especially considering the utterly deplorable state of the hotel trade in london: either vomiting or hideously expensive or, if you are lucky enough, both.
