Lovely historic hotel

We had a suite overlooking the courtyard. only complaint was that it was dark & gloomy. i'm all for atmospheric lighting, so long as there is the option to have bright light if you want to see anything. you can access the historic rooms, which are really interesting (full of antiques, lavish décor etc), but a guide in english about the history of the property would have been welcome. the terrace has a nice view over the gardens. the dining room does not have a view. food & drinks were good though pricey. service was polite, though not overtly friendly.
