Alvear palace is, in my opinion, one of the best in the world. (and i have stayed in about 200 hotels all over the globe.) lush decor, excellent service staff, great location (if you are in buenos aires!) and a dinner restaurant -- la bourgoyne -- that compares favorably with the best in france. not cheap (what great hotel is?) but very reasonably priced for the level of service, comfort, and style provided. january 2016 was our second stay here; the first was in 1996. the experience twenty years ago was the same.
