An absolute gem!
My wife and i just returned from a weekend get-a-way in san antonio and what a delightful stay it was at this absolutely marvelous hotel right on the river walk. the location is perfect and the hotel even better - it deserves to have the top ranking. we were fortunate to have one of the corner rooms, which are a little larger than the standard rooms due to the location at the end of the corridors. the rooms are well appointed with every convenience including a nespresso coffee machine. the details are all dealt with, including robes and slippers that you would find in top rated 5 star facilities. the luxurious bathroom has the largest whirlpool type tub that we have ever encountered anywhere in the world in top class hotels, and there is a separate shower and toilet facility. they are generous with towels and bath-sheets are provided. the mini bar is well stoked with upscale items including dean and deluca chocolate bars and the apples at reception are delicious. this hotel was a little more expensive than others we looked at and booked it through this website through an amazing deal on hotelsclick.com that was on one of the pop up windows. it was less expensive than the others and included breakfast. i was a bit apprehensive at first as i had never used this booking service and research was a bit of a mixed bag. needless to say it went off without a hitch, and i confirmed the reservation a few days later directly with the hotel. pre-payment was required, but there was a cancellation grace period. the included breakfast was delicious and the service at the restaurant impeccable. i was looking for something to fault, and to be niggly the only minor issue was that the oj wasn't freshly squeezed. boo hoo! parking provided by the hotel valet service is a bit steep at $35/day, especially given that one can park for 24 hours for $9.00 around the corner, but that does not include in-and-out privileges and is a five minute walk away. the front rooms have a balcony and i imagine could be a bit noisy on friday and saturday nights when the walk is packed. our room was on the back and i could here the traffic noise to some extent as the windows are a little old and do let in sound, but not bad enough to be disruptive. there is a small pool and cafe on the roof and adequate work-out facilities. if you are looking to pamper yourselves, you won't go wrong staying here. the staff are courteous, friendly and helpful.
