I had been traveling for 16 hours when i arrived at the hotel to learn my room would not be ready for atleast another two hours, that is to say 6:00p.m., the hotel and my room were clean. the major drawback that really ruined my whole stay was the front desk reception personnel. they were, as a group, rude and were more interested in talking with other staff than addressing the guests waiting for assistance! i have worked in hospitality for eight years and travelled extensively and must admit i've never seen such rude, inconsiderate and ill organized reception staff. because of their chatting with co-workers rather than guests i had a lot of time to observe the activity or lack there of. maybe it's just because it's cuba but the bell/doorman and wait staff in the restaurant it seemed also spent more time talking to each other than assisting their guests.
