We had a very pleasant stay at le senat. when checking in, we were told that our deluxe room was available, but that the terrace suite was also available for an extra charge of €50 per night. we were given keys to both rooms and invited to take a look and make a decision. the terrace suite is in 2 floors - you walk into a sort of dopey front hall with a closet and an awkwardly placed sofa and a writing table, then go up a steep staircase to the bedroom, passing a small but bright and cheerful and very pretty bathroom with a skylight. the bedroom is pretty but very small and we wondered where we would be able to put our suitcase. this room is all about the terrace, which is large enough for a small table (breakfast!) and has a view of the eiffel tower. the deluxe room was significantly larger than the terrace room, with a sitting area and much larger bathroom. the drawback to this room was that it is on the 1st floor with windows looking directly into a small atrium with a table to invite people to sit (and presumably enjoy a glass of wine, read, smoke) directly outside of our window. had any guests used this opportunity it would have been very awkward for residents of our room. otherwise, this room has no window or outside view. we chose the deluxe room as we were there in march and use of the terrace would have been very limited - if it all. in general, we thought this hotel has a great location, is very nicely appointed and has friendly and helpful staff. we were surprised to see that this hotel has only 3 stars.
