Filthy, disgusting, unfriendly staff

We had to leave the hotel ahead of time because it was moldy to the point of being a health concern for our family. we asked for fresh towels, but all of the towels we got (1 per person) were stained, some with large yellow stains, others with small red stains we could not further identify. the hotel is old, there was a broken stair on the way down and holes in the floor, which we did not mind as much as we minded the moldy shower, hair in the bedsheets, ants on the dirty breakfast dishes, broken chairs and dirty curtains, floors and furniture. the hotel staff eventually claimed the photos we took of our room were not from their hotel, even though a short internet search clarifies that the interior is very typical and the complaint we are making here is far from uncommon. heaters could not be regulated. they charge 5 pounds extra for wifi, though we did not buy it, as we did not trust it would even work in our basement room. when we later went out to compare other hotels, we found that the blair victoria is renowned for the terrible state it is in. we even found a bus ticket seller near the marble arch, ways away from the blair victoria, who heard us talking about it and basically gave us his condolences because he was well aware of how disgusting the place is (there was talk of rat feces having been reported there, though we cannot confirm this ourselves). best part? when we clarified to the night manager why we were leaving the hotel, we were basically told that mold is not a health concern and that we bought cheap, so the state the hotel was in should be acceptable. we strongly disagree - old, used, a little broken is fine - moldy, filthy and dangerous is not. also, because we had the kitchen staff remove the plates with the ants right away and did not take a picture to document them, the ants supposedly never existed. the one night we spent there we preferred to freeze - or do you trust the blankets in the shelf of a hotel that cannot even wash its towels properly? we couldn't. also: we spent the entire day from the morning after our first night, mailing and calling hotelsclick.com to help us with a solution (such as find us a different hotel or agree to a refund). by night, we still had not received any helpful answer, also due to stalling tactics by the hotel management. we had no choice but to leave the hotel in the middle of the night and find another one - later, this was held against as because we had left the hotel 'voluntarily'. we did eventually get a refund for one night and are still trying to get one for the second night.
