The hotel is excellently situated if you wish to use the train - just up the road from haymarket railway station. we wanted somewhere we could park our car and there is a very small car park but you needed to be quick to secure a parking place. beware though, we stayed in december 08 and there are alot of roadworks in the area (preparing for the new tramway) so getting around by car was tricky, even with the sat-nav! we parked the car for 3 days and walked into town every day which took about 20 minutes. the room was small but functional and clean. there was a safe in the room but it didn't work and one bank of plugs in the desk also didn't work. despite mentioning it to reception, 2 days later they were still not fixed. the bathroom was small but there was a bath and a shower. the staff were very pleasant and the breakfasts excellent. we dined at the indian restaurant next door one night and i would heartily recommend it. overall, we would definitely stay there again.
