Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the florida hotel in old havana. the room was comfortable although quite noisy. we enjoyed it's location. the staff were pleasant and helpful

Overpriced hotel room - dated and hard hotel beds and also doesn't let you check in until 4pm! worst of all, my room was overlooking the very busy street and noisy all night. not to mention, internet costs are higher here then other places in the city. breakfast was cold and unappetising at best

The hotel has a beautiful architecture and the location is great, right in the centre of old havana. the first room i was given, was spacious and classy. however, after a few hours i realised that it was situated right above a bar with live music, every night from 9pm to after hours, which made sleeping practically impossible. after the 2nd day, i requested to be moved to another room. the new room was half the size of the first one and much simpler, situated in an attached building. it was calm but had none of the class and features of the main building. the breakfast was very good. from the stuff i got mixed impressions. some were polite, some other don't. please, consider seriously the problem with the bar that i mention above, unless you don't have any plans to sleep at night.

Hotel florida might have been excellent. might have been. having arrived at this beautifully restored hotel on calle obispo via taxi after a long flight from toronto via panama city and paid the taxi driver who helped us with luggage through the crowded calle we were most surprised to find we had no booking! after providing a copy of our voucher, various receipts and itineraries the unhelpful receptionist found a piece of paper with our names which explained that our four night booking had been 'transferred' to another hotel four cobblestoned blocks away. why? no se. what has happened to our payment. no se. would our voucher be honoured by another hotel? no se. may we see the manager? she has gone home. do we need a taxi to get to this other hotel? no se. (which means i don't know). it turns out that the alternate hotel which initially offered us two nights was another in the habaganereaux group and was very pleasant. our real beef is that there had been no attempt to email or notify us of the problem and zero acknowledgement of the problem at time of arrival. just a really good example of the mas o memos attitude that is holding cuba back.
