Review on espana hotel, rome

Booked this as a 1 night stopover before going on a cruise. wanted somewhere not too far from train station and although it was walkable took a taxi ride as streets very busy and had lots of luggage. area is was in was a bit off beaten track but metro stop round corneer and colesseum was walkable so if you only want a few nights stay great but it you want lots of bars/cafe/shops go elsewhere. arrived exhausted after delayed flights, standing on train for an hour to find our room was on third floor up very steep and slippy marble staircase and no lifts! had to to get 3 very heavy cases upstairs - was told we could leave them in corridor by reception but didn't think this was secure enough. room had 2 double beds and nice bathroom, air conditioned, clean and spacious enough for 1 night. nice continental breakfast served in very old cellar. reception staff watched up struggle with 3 heavy cases up steps to building only to tell us our room was in building next door, so we had to lift them all back down again! reception staff didn't speak good english and weren't very forthcoming/friendly. no bar.
