Don't do it

The stay was mediocre at best, gross and unnerving at worst. let's see, where to begin..... ahh yes, upon arrival, the bathroom door locked in on itself somehow. just, in closing the bathroom door, it locked. that's weird, ok let's call downstairs. go grab in-room phone, hmmm, that's weird, the phone is not connected. go back down to desk and send for help. help does not come for an hour. bathroom door finally open, phone reconnected, i have the pleasure of seeing the black large spots of mildew in various corners of the bathroom floor. between the tiles and spilling out over and up the bath tub itself. gross, guess i have to wear shower shoes. ice machines and coke machines are located on random floors that may or may not be the floor you are staying on. floor 8 (our floor) had no ice machine so i go to the 9th floor. doors open and i cough and gag from the sheer smell of mildew and the dank dampness of the air. i think to myself, hmmm they probably aren't putting people on this floor. nope, i hear people coming and going on this floor and i cannot imagine having to stay in that wretched stench for the duration of my stay. i also do not want to think about the mildewy airflow making its way through the connected air system down to our room just the floor below. bathroom door back in the room decides to stick again, this time with my boyfriend as an occupant. in the ensuing struggle, the door finally decides to release, slamming into his foot. bleeding, everywhere. i call downstairs and somewhat panicked but nicely ask for some bandaids or first aid items. i am told it will be no less than 35 minutes. to send someone up. at about 1:00 a.m. on a saturday night. their explanation: people are coming back from partying and its a busy time for them. busy time for what you ask? certainly not room service since that ends at 11 and the lobby restaurant was already closed. having stayed in many hotels, some in higher price points than your typical crowne plaza, some in lower price points, i have found that if there is an unusually sub-par experience politely made apparent to the desk staff, that they will attempt to rectify or, in the least, provide some compensation in the form of vouchers or a comped night. i was met with attitude at best, silence at worst. this did not appear to be a hotel staff that has even had hospitality training. the old asian bellhop didn't speak a word of english and i saw him take someone's bags to the wrong floor/room (i clearly heard the guest say they would be in room 1221, he took the bags to a room on my floor, 8. i don't even know....). this is highly unusual for this hotel chain but i have made up my mind to absolutely never stay with this chain again.
