Ottima posizione, situato vicino a vaci ucta e ai principali monumenti di budapest. stanza pulite e sempre riordinate al nostro rientro in hotel. colazione non particolarmente abbondante ma comunque positivo il mio commento. metro e mezzi facilmente raggiungibili.

easy approach from the airport even with the public transport. very nice breakfast, clean and nice standard rooms. the location is very good, so you can walk everywhere in the center. it would be more convenient with some hot water and couple of teabags or coffee in the room...if i visit there again, i would stay at the same place.

The location of this hotel could hardly be better, being right next to the elizabeth bridge, and in between the two halves of the busy vaci utca. it is in easy walking distance to many of the major attractions on either side of the river, and for excursions further afield the metro and tram/trolley bus system is easy to use and very cheap. the first impression of the hotel is a bit off-putting, as there is currently some refurbishment being carried out, so the entrance is by a side door. the reception area is fine, and there is free internet access available. the staff are friendly and very helpful, and speak good english (amongst other languages). use the safety deposit box is free. the rooms are newly refurbished and nicely decorated. there was a fridge in the room, and the tv had channels from a number of countries. breakfast was very good, with a good choice of options. the restaurant attached to the hotel (where breakfast is served) is beautifully decorated in mediaeval style, and the menu for dinner includes an excellent choice of hungarian dishes. a six-piece gypsy band plays in the restaurant from 7pm every day, and there are frequent displays of traditional dance by local youngsters....not to be missed.

Il "city matyas" (pron. màtiasc) è un hotel ubicato in posizione strategica, alle porte del centro di pest e della sua zona pedonale, a pochi metri dalla fermata del "panoramico" tram n.2 e a 5 minuti a piedi dalla più vicina fermata della metropolitana (linea m3 stazione ferenciek tere). alcune camere godono di terrazzino con vista potenzialmente spettacolare (ponte erzsébet e buda sullo sfondo - potenzialmente perché al momento della nostra visita era presente un'impalcatura con una pubblicità che copriva sostanzialemnte in modo completo la visuale esterna) anche se, le stesse camere, probabilmente soffrono di un po' di inquinamento acustico stradale, ampiamente attutito tuttavia grazie alla presenza di ben due finestre poste l'una di seguito all'altra, di cui una dotata di doppi vetri. la stanza a noi riservata era dotata di terrazzino (inutilizzabile in virtù dell'impalcatura di cui ho prima parlato), tv in camera, bagno, frigorifero (privo di contenuto) a disposizione del cliente. il personale della reception è efficiente, gentile e sufficientemente premuroso, pur nella apparente scontrosità con la quale si pone (caratteristica che abbiamo peraltro riconosciuto in diversi budapestini). l'hotel l'ho definito "sui generis" perché non occupa totalmente lo stabile ove è ubicato, ma condivide gli spazi con uffici e appartamenti che si affacciano su un (peraltro sufficientemente grazioso) cortiletto interno comune. ad ogni modo, non abbiamo sofferto di disguidi per se non per il fatto che, per scendere per la colazione o per recarsi alla reception, bisogna attraversare tali spazi. unica pecca: il portone in ferro posto all'ingresso dello stabile, cigolante e dall'aspetto non certo invitante ed accogliente. preciso che, pur essendo presente un ascensore, per raggiungere la reception e la sala per la colazione bisogna fare alcuni scalini. la sala colazione è situata all'interno del matyas pince, ristorante storico di budapest, del 1904, famoso per la cucina e per la musica gitana, veramente grazioso ma che ad un occhio occidentale può apparire forse un po' kitsch.
