I have stayed at the consul several times and always enjoyed it, there are the normal problems that crop up (no hot water for a short period, and main course food not at the hottest) i always book a sea view on the 4th floor which now calls the balcony a terrace and has 2 sun beds and chairs and table and over looks the harbour. the drinks in the lounge are expensive so i go out for my evening entertainment, the rope and anchor next door is excellent. the hotel is spotless and staff very friendly, perhaps the pool furniture needs upgrading but all in all it is good value for money.
