This city stands out at the national and state level for its industrial development and its important agricultural, livestock and commercial activity. For this reason it has been called "The Golden Gate of the Bajio". It is also important to breed cattle, goats and sheep. Originally from Celaya is the renowned architect Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, painter, sculptor and builder. Promoter of the neoclassical style of the eighteenth century, whose works embellished several cities of Bajío Guanajuatense and neighboring states.
