Booked hotel on internet with no prior knowledge of any area or recommendation. never having been to paris before, this was a gamble. found hotel by lucky chance 50 metres from metro. great welcome received, checked straight in, the room clean, comfortable if just a bit small. only complaint was the air conditioner did not work effectively and could not leave window open because of the noise of late night revellers on any night of the week. pick a rear room if you can. location otherwise great for convenience to everything. the noise goes on to 3am or so!
