4 star room, 3 star breakfast

Me and my wife stayed one night only after a wedding we went to. on arrival the polite but not overly welcome reception staff checked us in and e went up to our room. the room was very good, clean, a lovely bathroom with lots of shower goodies and shaving kits etc, randomly the double bed was actually two twins, with separate blankets, pushed together, but as i knew we'd literally pass out in them after the wedding, i wasn't bothered. the hotel loses marks for the breakfast, something i was looking forward to with a slightly fuzzy head. on arrival, there was no-one to greet us so we started filling our bowl. when a waitress did appear, i told her our rom number, she smiled awkwardly and walked away. i followed, where she picked up a clipboard and asked for my room number again. i asked for a tea and a coffee, she asked me if i wanted toast, i said i'd order it with breakfast. she replied 'brown or white?'. i just said brown and sat down with my cereal. there was no menu on the table so i thought there was no cooked breakfast and ate the cereal and cold meats etc. nearly 20 (!!!) minutes later when, after asking another waitress twice, my toast arrived, i saw another table receiving cooked meals. by this point we were in a hurry so had no time but at no point were we offered any sort of menu. a long description i know, but that side of things was decidedly lacking in quality.
