Be care of the cheap seats

We were pretty happy with our stay at secrets in cozumel. it is worth mentioning though that the various prices of rooms are important to your decision. we are budget conscious so we pick picked the cheapest room. we were aware that this room would not be an ocean view, but we were a little surprised to see that our room was at least a block and a half away from the beach and most of the restaurants. we don't mind walking, but if you don't like the long commute, you might want to upgrade to a higher priced room. the room itself was absolutely fine, but the location was not so fine. there was a swimming pool right below our room, but the water temperature was cold, so we never got further than our toes. there was also a loud party going on every thursday night, and i do mean loud. we are not party animals so didn't care for that. the food at this resort is pretty good. some reviews i read complained that the servings were small. they were kind of small, but that did not bother us, as the quality was good, and we are not big eaters. i'm sure that had we asked for a second helping or another entre that they would have been happy to accommodate. while the food was good, there were only 4 restaurants, but there was a sister resort next door (sunscape, a family resort) which we were allowed to enjoy under the all inclusive. the breakfast buffet was adequate, with a chef there to make an omlet or to fry you an egg. however, some of the food (bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs) were not under a sunlamp, so were cold. we didn't like that. the beach was pleasant with very little wave action, although there were lots of rocks and sea grass. this made it difficult to move around in the water. but one really big plus is that their dock made it very easy to get a scuba or snorkel trip right from that dock. we were going to buy the snorkel trip from the lobby, but found out in the nick of time that the outdoor kiosk was considerably cheaper. we did buy a rental car in the lobby for one day, but it was very expensive. i recommend checking with the outdoor kiosk. there was a place to get hamburgers and hotdogs, but i never saw any place to get ice cream. that should be changed. there were quite a few bars, but very few public bathrooms around the beach area, and those that were there were not in very good working order most of the time. the bed was comfortable, but the pillows were hard. the room refrigerator was stalked with beer and soft drinks every day. the staff were pleasant and accommodating. i liked them all except the rental car guy in the lobby. this is the third all inclusive, and i would rate it not the best but not the worst. we had a great time overall.
