Perfect for a historical family night in san antonio

The hotel is charming and well preserved. although the drive up entrance seems small, the interior foyer and lobby with skylights maintain the look and feel of an outdoor courtyard from years ago - now indoors though. the original walk-up entrance now leads into their breakfast dining room. excellent breakfast by the way, included. don't come with an expectation of luxury. the rooms are simple but functional (carpet could use replacing!), no refrigerator. they brought us a bag of ice for our cooler. i misunderstood what a "double" is on hotelsclick, and booked a room with one double bed. reception was very kind and accommodated me at the same price. the small outdoor pool is pretty with rock and natural decor and well maintained, with fabric umbrellas, tables, chairs, chaises and towel service. it was perfect for my family to unwind - not for lap swimming. the side of the hotel is immediately across the street from a back entrance to the alamo. everything is within walking distance of this hotel: entertainment, the mall, sights, the riverwalk. the location is excellent and the value we got was great for the price. one note: my husband stopped down for a beer at the bar. there were only two other customers. the female bar tender kept putting him off "just one sec" for close to 10 minutes while she chatted with the other two customers. when she finally got around to taking his order, she toyed with him, flirted, and tried to get him to admit her was "mad at her". he just wanted beer and was irritated that this floozy bartender was obviously drunk. avoid the bar, then your visit will be great. my husband stopped down for a beer at the bar. the female bar tender kept putting him off "just one sec" for close to 10 minutes while she chatted with the only other two customers there. when she finally got around to taking his order, she toyed with him, flirted, and tried to get him to admit her was "mad at her". he just wanted beer and was irritated that this floozy bartender was obviously drunk. occurred: june 30, 2015
