I've worked in the travel industry for about 20 years. from what i know, the hyatt chain of hotels give the title "grand" when the hotel satisfies a certain grade in terms of rooms, services,facilities, etc. for eg, the hyatt in singapore where i live had to upgrade its hotel and services several times before it was accorded the "grand hyatt" status. i must say that i was disappointed with the grand hyatt in sfo in terms of the hotel size as a whole and the size of their rooms. the breakfast was also very mediocre and not worth the price. this is definitely an overpriced "grand hyatt". i had to choose this hotel for my kids because i had to attend a conference here. we stayed there from 27/03 through the 31/03.
