Superb - highly recommended
4 nights here at the end of our cuban adventure. we stayed our first night at the mojito before a flight to havana. the biggest difference was the mosquitos. at the mojito they bit during the day and night (a small lagioon between the hotel and beach was the issue). here at the pestana they spray every morning, and with no lagoon between the hotel and the 30 second stroll to the beach meant that there were very few here.
we had a junior suite on the 1st floor in the building closest to the pool. the shower was amazing - the most powerful shower i'd ever experienced and warm water every time. the bathroom was more than adequate. the room itself had a huge double bed and a sofa with a tv screen showing a couple of uk/us channels, a couple from germany, italy & france, and a number of spanish language channels.
food at the hotel was superb. breakfast had an omlette chef and a pancake chef, along with a massive selection fo breakfast items. lunch and dinner were equally as good.
there are 3 small restaurants on site - a cuban, a portuguese and italian. unfortunately during our time they were all booked up, except for one evening we managed to book into the cuban restaurant. we would therefore recommend booking the restaurants as early as possible, even before you get there. the food in the cuban restaurant was excellent and an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the buffer dinner service.
the pool was good, but we spent more time on the fabulous beach, that had life guards and a beach bar. the beach has stone white sand and crystal clear water, and a fantastic experience of swimming in it during a thunderstorm. time to exit when the lightening tarted striking though.
if we make the trip to this part of cuba again this hotel will be the the first place we will look to stay at. another couple we spoke with who were regular travellers to cuba said that this was the best hotel that they had stayed at it in area.
