Central and cheap, but minimal standard
Great location at piazza barberini. central, but still cheap. you easily get around to some of the main attractions by walking 5-10 minutes, and nearly all of central rome is accessible by foot from here. if you get a room to the backyard it is also fairly quiet. the lobby is fearly neat, but the hallways and the rooms desperately need a make-over. in our room, you could not close the bathroom door and the tiles were close to falling off. the service was as expected: nothing special, but not bad. however, they do have a shuttle service to the airport which is €12,- cheaper than the standard taxi fare. the breakfast is quite poor, with plastic knives and forks! the fresh espresso coffee is great though... all in all a bed and a shower are what you get - and that is all you need in rome. after all; you do want to spend the days wandering the streets and the evenings dining in trastevere.
