Il Thunderbird Lodge è situato tra El Tovar e il Bright Angel Lodge, nel cuore del Grand Canyon Historic District. Questo moderno lodge è situato sul bordo del canyon. We stayed on the 1st floor (believe it was 6221 but it was just to the left of center when looking out onto the canyon) and our room was fabulous! i didn't know what to expect since everybody said the hotel was older and the rooms were just sorta adequate. well we found our room to be much more. it was ridiculously clean, amazingly quiet (they said the motel was full), and the beds were super comfortable. the bathroom was a little small but totally adequate for 2. the best part was that the view from our window was absolutely fantastic. right before us was a break in the trees so we could clearly see the canyon, and being on the first floor meant we didn't have to look out on an ugly rooftop either. yes, there's lots of foot traffic (this is a popular place), but that made it even more interesting because virtually everyone stopped at this spot to take a selfie or group pic. watching the antics of all of these people was priceless and like i said, the view of the canyon was as good as it gets from a ground floor room. i would definitely stay at the thunderbird lodge again. it's old and funky looking from the outside but our room was a pleasant surprise!
