For a one-night family birthday treat, it was just the ticket. whilst not the cheapest 3*, the refurbished bedrooms, excellent restaurant, and great breakfast meant that it was great value. in cities, we always make a piont of eating out, rather than in the hotel, the experience being often rather bland. in fact, we'd tried to book at howies, and the outsider, but had left it too late, and somewhat apprehensive, decided to just eat-in at the bruntsfield's bisque brasserie. we were more than pleasantly surprised: the service, the food and the ambience was excellent: full marks to the bruntsfield. agr, crieff
