Thought the hotel was in venice, and went to the venice train station, only to discover we needed to go back to mestre. bus to venice was fine, jut the distance was not what we expected. hotel staff was helpful, but had the only bad experience with a local restaurantuer. went to the recommended restaurant, and was refused service. i don't think we did anything to offend, so seemed a bit embarrasing to me and my family. we left without incident, but noted the empty tables. probably should have made a reservation, and had a contact person to ask for, but given the matrone's attitude not convinced that would have made a difference.
