My wife's 50th birthday trip.
Some high's and some lows. my wife and i travel extensively across the us although this was our first visit to dc.
i cannot fault the cleanliness and décor of the omni. however, as this was a 50th birthday present for my wife i wanted it to be special so i e mailed in advance and asked for a bottle of proseco to be ready in the room for our arrival. this was agreed and i was told that the price would be $58.00, even though on arrival, the same proseco was advertised in the room for only $42.00 (so what's going on there)? i was told i could pay for this in advance and despite trying to establish contact by ringing the hotel (from the uk) on three occasions, no one could take my payment, therefore, i suggested (by e mail) that i was simply billed at the end of our stay. sadly, on arrival, no proseco! clearly a communication issue.
having already joined the loyalty scheme, i was told by reception that the wi fi was free. at no point during our stay were we able to connect.
on our final night, we could not get into our room and therefore, went to the front desk, where new cards were made, still unable to get into the room (a huge inconvenience, up and down) a security guy came up to the room and said the battery has failed in the locking mechanism, stating that he would get a service person to come and replace it; twenty minutes later i rang reception (from the lift area as we were outside and still unable to gain access to our room) and no one knew about our predicament so yet another security guy (chris) was sent up to us who in turn established that the battery had failed (we already knew this), so he would call a service person to replace it, ten minutes later when the person arrived, i heard him telling chris (who incidentally was very courteous and apologetic) that he had not been told of this fault. the first security person having clearly gone off duty without telling anyone we could not get into our room; a further communication issue.
in addition, we spoke to the concierge the day before our departure to ask about the hotel shuttle to dulles airport and told it would cost $65.00. the next morning we came down to check out and request a shuttle to the airport later in the day, only to be told by the concierge that the shuttle was now full! we were never told that it had to be booked 24 hours in advance; yet another communication issue.
now overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the omni, just a few minor irritations that could have easily been avoided.
