I was surprised how lovely the city of bucharest is. i was expected a communist style concrete block city, but was pleasantly surprised at how green it is, with plenty of parks etc. the city hotel is out of town - five stops on the metro - with the metro station around a mile from the hotel. there are tram and bus services on the adjacent main road, however. i found the hotel itself basic but mostly comfortable. however, the underfloor heating made it very warm - especially at night. at times it felt airless. the breakfast was good, if a little repetitive the staff were very helpful
